In a rare and candid public appearance, Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of former US President Donald Trump, has firmly distanced herself from the family's political dynasty. During her debut podcast interview, she declared she has no intention of ever entering the political arena, a world she described as 'dangerous'.
A Political Rejection on 'Impaulsive'
Kai Trump, the eldest of Donald Trump's grandchildren and daughter of Donald Trump Jr., made her remarks on the Impaulsive podcast, hosted by influencer Jake Paul. When asked about her views on her grandfather's 2024 election opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, she was unequivocal about her own stance. 'To be honest with you, I stay out of politics completely,' she stated. 'Like, I would never run and I don't want anything to do with politics.'
She elaborated that she holds no personal animosity towards Harris, insisting there is 'no bad blood'. Instead, Kai positioned herself firmly in the centre of the political spectrum, criticising the extremes on both sides. 'I feel like politics is such a dangerous thing,' she explained, adding that she believes people would be happier if both sides met in the middle. She also pointed to social media algorithms as a force that amplifies polarisation.
Insight into Trump's Future and a Major International Incident
The conversation also turned to the future of her grandfather. When pressed on whether Donald Trump might run for a third term in 2028, Kai suggested that while he currently has no such plans, 'a lot could happen until 2028', leaving the door open to speculation.
Her interview came amid significant global news involving her grandfather. Donald Trump announced early on Saturday that US forces had 'successfully' carried out a military strike in Caracas, Venezuela, leading to the capture of the country's president, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores. The couple were taken on drug and weapons charges.
Maduro and Flores landed in New York late on Saturday and appeared in a Manhattan federal court on Monday, where they pleaded not guilty to charges including conspiring to send cocaine into the US. They face the possibility of life imprisonment if convicted.
Focus on Fairways, Not the Oval Office
While Kai Trump is shunning politics, she is wholeheartedly pursuing a career in professional golf. She has committed to joining the University of Miami later this year as part of their 2026 signing class to play collegiate golf. Her ambitions are already taking flight; in November, she made her debut on the prestigious LPGA Tour at The ANNIKA tournament in Florida.
She also has access to unparalleled golfing mentorship. Her mother, Vanessa, is dating golf legend Tiger Woods. Furthermore, Kai started 2026 by spending time on the driving range with Masters champion Rory McIlroy, whom she described as the 'best way to start the year'.
By combining her growing profile as a social media influencer with her serious athletic ambitions, Kai Trump is carving out a path distinctly separate from the turbulent world of Washington politics that defines her family name.
