Madi Donohoe, 22, from Frinton, Essex, went from earning £9 an hour as a care worker to £55,000 a month after leaving her job to resell clothes full-time. She struggled with the rigid 9-5 structure due to health issues including chronic pain and fibromyalgia, and quit after six months.
From Vinted to Tilt
After leaving her job in December 2022, Madi bought an "ugly" pair of trainers from a Nike outlet for £25 and sold them on Vinted for £50. She then bought Jibbitz for Crocs from Temu for £2 each and sold them for £4 each. She began visiting the Nike outlet regularly, reselling clothes for double the price.
In late 2023, she discovered Tilt, a live auction platform where sellers host real-time auctions. In her first month she made £800 profit. By her second month, profits rose to £5,400. She now makes around £55,000 monthly and has employed someone to handle packaging.
Filling a gap in the market
Madi found a niche in Stone Island clothing, buying from vintage shops and marketplaces. She sells items ranging from £15 badges to £2,000 prototype jackets. Her live auctions, which last three to five hours twice a week, attract up to 1,000 viewers.
From November 2025 to June 2026, she made £513,000, averaging £55,000 a month. She sends about 200 parcels weekly and has loyal customers who spend thousands monthly. Madi said: "Reselling has given me so much freedom. I was having to call in sick a lot in my old job, which I never wanted to do, and now I don't have to worry about that. It's given me the chance to have the best quality of life I can have."
