Big Brother Star Alex Sibley Runs for Reform UK in London

Alex Sibley, a former Big Brother contestant, has surprised fans by announcing his candidacy for Reform UK in the local London elections held today, 7 May 2026. The 47-year-old, who appeared on the third season of the reality show in 2002, shared a photograph on Instagram showing him alongside fellow candidate David Johnson, both wearing blue rosettes, as they bid to represent Emerson Park in Havering.

From Reality TV to Politics

Sibley rose to fame on Big Brother, finishing in third place behind winner Kate Lawler and runner-up Johnny Regan. He later ventured into modelling and presenting, with stints on Nickelodeon and Celebrity Bling Date. However, a tragic car accident in which a man died after colliding with his vehicle led him to step back from the limelight. In a 2020 interview, he described how the incident cost him his children's TV show and panto role, and made him resent his Big Brother fame.

In his Instagram post, which has garnered limited engagement and disabled comments, Sibley wrote: "It's Official. 7th May 2026. With a combined age of 126 years old and no degree from Oxford or Cambridge in Politics, we are Emerson Park candidates for Havering and Reform UK." The party, led by Nigel Farage, is fielding candidates across London in these local elections.

Sibley's political move marks a significant shift from his earlier career. After the car crash, he struggled financially, having earned around £250,000 in his first year post-Big Brother. He now seeks to represent his community in local government.
