Ukraine has threatened to take military action against Belarus as soon as next weekend if it does not dismantle relay equipment on its territory. Volodymyr Zelensky has given Vladimir Putin’s ally Alexander Lukashenko seven days to remove the equipment used by Russia in its attacks on Ukraine.
Zelensky's Ultimatum
“I think one week will be enough for him to do this,” said Zelensky. “Why do I say one week? Because every day now, our civilians are dying and children are being injured because of this.”
“If he does not do this, we will do it ourselves,” he added.
Potential Escalation
Such a move by Ukraine would threaten to widen the war with Russia, which is already seeking to pull Belarus into the conflict. Lukashenko has so far resisted direct involvement.
This is a breaking news story. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
