An 80-year-old widow has won £1 million on the EuroMillions using her late husband's lucky numbers. The woman, who has not been named, matched the Millionaire Maker code on her ticket in the draw held on Tuesday, January 9.
The win came as the £67 million jackpot rolled over, increasing to £75 million for the next draw. No ticket-holder matched all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars in the draw.
The widow's husband, who died several years ago, had used the same numbers for decades. She decided to continue using them after his death, and her persistence paid off. She said she plans to use the money to help her family and take a holiday.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners' Advisor at The National Lottery, said: 'It's wonderful to see someone win such a life-changing amount using numbers that hold so much sentimental value. This win is a testament to the power of sticking with your lucky numbers.'
The National Lottery generates around £30 million each week for good causes, with over 685,000 grants made across the UK to date.
