Trump Organization seeks trademarks for America's 250th birthday branding

The Trump Organization has filed a series of new trademark applications linking President Donald Trump's name to the upcoming celebrations for America's 250th birthday. According to filings with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the president's business submitted designs for exclusive use during the anniversary events.

One of the logos, filed by DTTM Operations LLC, reads “Trump 250” and is intended for merchandise such as bumper stickers, tote bags, commemorative cups, T-shirts and golf balls. Another design features five fighter jets with converging contrails and Trump's name at the base.

In a separate filing, the Kennedy Center's Board of Trustees submitted a trademark application for a logo reading “The Trump Kennedy Center,” potentially appearing on items from decorative magnets to Christmas tree ornaments. The shift from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts follows Trump's broader effort to brand federal institutions and celebrations, including “Trump-class” battleships and a $100 million “Arc de Trump” planned for the National Mall.

The president's commercial ventures have expanded since his return to the White House, with his name now on the U.S. Institute of Peace, a range of children's savings accounts, and banners on federal buildings. Planned events for the 250th anniversary include an INDYCAR race, a UFC bout at the White House, and a four-day “Patriot Games” athletic competition for high school students.

Trump has launched a public-private partnership called Freedom 250 to oversee the celebrations, stating: “Working with states, companies, and organizations across the country, we will renew the patriotism, pride, and pioneering spirit of America.”
