Reform UK has accepted a £100,000 donation from Interior Architecture Landscape, a design firm that faced a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs earlier this year. The donation was made in three tranches in June, according to records.
The company, which describes itself as a luxury interior designer, had assets of £99,000 and a tax liability exceeding £200,000 in its last filed accounts for the year ending January 2024. It was subject to a winding-up petition by HMRC in March 2024, a measure described by HMRC as a 'final course of action' to recover debt.
A spokesperson for Interior Architecture Landscape said the petition arose from a dispute that has since been settled. The company's sole owner is listed as British director John Richard Simpson, and it was originally set up by a British Virgin Islands-based company of the same name. The spokesperson denied any current links to the British Virgin Islands.
Reform UK stated it carried out all required checks and confirmed the donor was a permissible source under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. The party has been raising funds from high-net-worth individuals, including £500,000 from treasurer Nick Candy and over £200,000 from policy chief Zia Yusuf.
