Prince Harry UK Visit 'Disaster' as Duke Falls Into Trap

Prince Harry's upcoming visit to the United Kingdom has been described as a 'disaster' by royal experts, as the Duke of Sussex reportedly reconsidered the trip after his request for police protection was rejected. The visit, originally planned for July 7 to July 11, was expected to include his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. However, the security issue has thrown the plans into chaos.

Experts Weigh In on the 'Bear Trap'

TalkTV reporter Mark Dolan commented on the situation, stating: 'Why would they say they’re coming and then potentially not - that’s a bear trap.' The comment highlights the uncertainty surrounding the Sussexes' travel arrangements, which were initially announced with much fanfare.

Bronte Coy, Royal Reporter for The Sun, expressed shock at the turn of events. Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Podcast, she said: 'I was staggered by the turn of events that happened over the weekend. It is staggering to me that there has clearly been this reputational rehab push in Britain and everything was laid out a couple of weeks ago.'

Plans Fall Apart

Coy added: 'The plans were in place for them to come over here and there was going to be all this big promotional blitz for the Invictus Games and the reconciliation which was obviously going to happen between the children and Charles. For this to then come apart so quickly and in such a catastrophic way, no matter what happens - it is already a disaster now.'

The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, were expected to be a key focus of the visit, with hopes of a reconciliation between the Duke and his father, King Charles III. However, the security dispute has overshadowed these plans.

Security Dispute Background

Prince Harry's security arrangements have been a point of contention since he and Meghan Markle stepped down from their working royal roles in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California. In February 2020, the Home Office decided that Harry would no longer receive automatic police protection on the same terms as a working royal, with security instead assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Harry challenged that decision in court and lost a High Court case in 2024. He has since appealed the ruling. A spokesperson for the Duke stated that he is 'still exploring every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK.'

Uncertain Future

It remains unclear which family members will accompany Prince Harry on the trip, if it proceeds at all. The couple had planned to spend five days in the UK, from July 7 to July 11. The uncertainty has led to widespread speculation about the state of Harry's relationship with the royal family and his ability to visit his home country safely.
