Four hundred families across Lanarkshire received financial support while their children were in hospital, according to new figures welcomed by Clare Adamson MSP.
The Scottish Government provided £72,267 to families in the region through the Young Patients Family Fund (YPFF) during the 2025/26 financial year.
Support for Families
The fund helps cover the cost of travel, food, and accommodation for parents, primary carers, and siblings under 18 visiting a child in hospital.
Introduced by the SNP Scottish Government in 2021, the scheme is unique to Scotland and has provided practical support to thousands of families facing the worry and uncertainty of a child spending an extended period in hospital.
MSP's Response
The Motherwell and Wishaw MSP said: “Having a child in hospital is incredibly difficult for any family, so it’s really encouraging to see 400 families across Lanarkshire supported through the Young Patients Family Fund over the last year.”
