UN Experts Warn of Surging Israeli Settler Violence in West Bank

A team of 14 UN experts, including the special rapporteur for Palestine, Francesca Albanese, has issued a stark warning about what they describe as surging Israeli settler terror in the occupied West Bank and east Jerusalem. They highlighted an existential risk to Palestinian communities, citing at least 13 Palestinians killed and close to 500 injured in settler attacks over the past five months.

The experts stated that relentless attacks by the settler-colonial movement, carried out with the support and acquiescence of the Israeli state, have become a daily terror in Palestinian lives. They said the violence, conducted with full impunity, serves as an instrument of coercion facilitating ethnic cleansing and forced displacement.

The UN team expressed concern that the escalation of regional hostilities has drawn international attention away from the realities in the occupied territories, allowing the displacement of people to slip further from sight.
