President Donald Trump has accused Iran of sabotaging peace negotiations by submitting a revised proposal that he claims bears no relation to the original agreement under discussion. Despite his belief that Iran is 'dying to sign a deal,' the White House has expressed frustration over the new terms.
Iran's Revised Offer
Iran shared a 14-point peace proposal through Pakistan, reiterating that its right to enrich uranium is 'non-negotiable' and demanding the complete lifting of all sanctions. The proposal, which Tehran insists is a good-faith effort, has been rejected by US officials as a non-starter.
Trump's Warning
On his Truth Social platform, Trump issued a stark warning: 'For Iran, the Clock is Ticking.' The statement came hours after Iran's armed forces spokesperson threatened 'surprise scenarios' if the US acts recklessly, heightening tensions in the region.
Drone Strike Incident
Meanwhile, a drone strike caused a fire at a nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi. Emirati officials have launched an investigation, while Iran warned the UAE against becoming entangled in what it called 'Israel’s plots.' The incident has further complicated the already fragile diplomatic situation.
Mediation Challenges
Pakistan, which is mediating the talks, noted that both the US and Iran are 'changing their goalposts,' making progress difficult in the three-month-old conflict. A senior Pakistani diplomat stated, 'Both sides need to show flexibility if a breakthrough is to be achieved.'
As the standoff continues, international observers fear that the window for a diplomatic solution may be closing, with military options increasingly being discussed behind closed doors.
