US President Donald Trump has stated he rejected an attempt by Iran to restart negotiations, declaring 'Too Late!' on his Truth Social platform, as US and Israeli strikes intensified across Iran. The attacks targeted command centres, missile sites, and strategic state offices, with Iran retaliating using hundreds of missiles and drones against Israel and Gulf states.
Iran's ambassador to the UN in Geneva denied that Tehran had approached the US for talks. Meanwhile, the Red Crescent reported 787 dead and thousands injured in Iran, with billions of dollars in damage inflicted on oil refineries, tankers, and airports. Energy prices have soared, threatening the global economy.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that 'the hardest hits are yet to come', while Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth raised the possibility of US ground troops in Iran. In Lebanon, Israel confirmed ground troops had entered the south, prompting Hezbollah to declare 'open war'. Israeli airstrikes have killed 52 people and displaced at least 29,000 in Lebanon.
Iran continued to strike economic targets across the Gulf, including a drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh and missiles aimed at Doha's Hamad International Airport. Debris from an intercepted drone caused a fire at an oil storage zone in the UAE. The UN Security Council has been urged by Iran to act to stop the war.
