Donald Trump is set to hold separate talks with Volodymyr Zelensky and Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House today, just days after Zelensky accused Russia of helping Iran target US troops.
Both the Ukrainian and Israeli presidents have come to Washington DC to attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, who died earlier this month aged 71.
Zelensky’s Request and Accusation
Zelensky is expected to ask Trump for help bolstering Ukraine’s anti-ballistic missile defences. On Saturday, Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence has evidence that Russia shared satellite imagery with Tehran, enabling Iran to attack US military bases in the Middle East. In response, Trump said he will "find out if that's true" and "ask Putin about it".
Meeting with Netanyahu
After meeting Zelensky, Trump will meet Netanyahu for the first time in person since the war on Iran began on February 28.
Zelensky’s Statement on X
"Since the beginning of July, we have recorded active Russian satellite surveillance of the Gulf states and U.S. military facilities located there," Zelensky posted on X. "These images subsequently appear in Iran. At the same time, there is a clear correlation between Russia's satellite imagery of these sites and Iranian strikes - both before the attacks, in preparation for them, and afterward, to assess the damage inflicted."
