Donald Trump has stated that he refused to provide a direct answer to Chinese President Xi Jinping when asked whether the United States would defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese attack.
When questioned by a reporter about his stance, the President again declined to give a clear response. He remarked: "There's only one person that knows and it's me. I'm the only person that knows. That question was asked to me today by President Xi and I don't talk about those things."
He added: "He asked me if I'd defend them and I said I don't talk about that."
