A new musical adaptation of the classic film Thelma & Louise will have its world premiere in London later this year. The show, written by Callie Khouri who penned the original 1991 movie, will run at the Young Vic theatre from September 3 to October 24, with press night on September 16.
The production features music and lyrics by Grammy-nominated artist Neko Case, and stars Rachel Tucker and Amy Lennox as the title characters. Trip Cullman directs the show, which is produced by Sonia Friedman and Imogen Brodie, among others.
Producers described the musical as a “visceral live experience” and a “rollercoaster of a night out”. They noted that the film sparked a vital conversation around violence against women and girls, and that the story remains relevant today, speaking to freedom, solidarity, friendship and the ongoing fight for equality.
Khouri said she was thrilled to collaborate on this “newly reimagined story” and called it “a wild and emotional ride”. The musical will open the Young Vic's 2026/27 season, which also includes the English-language premiere of Eurotrash, reuniting Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter.
