Teyana Taylor, a Best Supporting Actress nominee for 'One Battle After Another', was involved in an altercation with a security guard at the end of the 98th Oscars ceremony. The incident occurred when Taylor attempted to rejoin the stage for a group photo after her film won Best Picture, the night's final award.
Footage shows Taylor turning to the guard and saying, 'He's putting his hands on a female,' and later adding, 'He literally shoved me.' The guard was employed by Security Industry Specialists (SIS), the Oscars' outside security firm.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a statement on Monday expressing dismay. 'We were extremely upset to learn about the experience endured by Teyana Taylor,' it read. 'Though the incident was with our outside security firm SIS, the experience of every single guest is our responsibility. We have made it clear to them that this behavior is not acceptable.'
Taylor responded on X, thanking the Academy for 'your unwavering love & support.' SIS also released a statement, saying, 'This is not the standard of professionalism we expect from our team, and we have addressed the matter internally.'
'One Battle After Another' won six Oscars from 13 nominations. Taylor was nominated alongside Amy Madigan, who won the category; Taylor was seen jumping out of her seat in excitement when Madigan's name was called.
