Direct flights between the US and the Middle Eastern nation were famously scrapped back in 1985 by Ronald Reagan's administration following the terrifying hijacking of TWA flight 847.
Taking to social media right after the meeting, Trump said: "I am hereby directing my Administration to allow all U.S. airline carriers to fly directly to Lebanon so that Americans can easily visit this beautiful land."
Trump Backs Lebanon
The historic meeting wrapped up Aoun's four-day trip to Washington - marking the first visit by a Lebanese president to the White House since 2009. During the sit-down, Trump pledged to back the nation, which has suffered months of devastating war between Israel and Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.
Addressing Aoun directly, Trump said: "It's been a very badly treated place and country and we're going to have it properly treated and treated with the respect it deserves." He added: "We're gonna help it a lot."
