Sam Thompson faced an awkward moment live on Hits Radio when a caller asked about his ex-girlfriend Zara McDermott's new relationship with Louis Tomlinson. The former One Direction star has been linked to McDermott since March 2025, following her split from Thompson in December 2024 after five years together.
Listener Holly asked Thompson: 'How do you feel about playing the song from One Direction Steal My Girl, knowing that actually one of the 1D boys did actually steal your girl?' The 33-year-old former Made in Chelsea star was taken aback, clasping his hands over his mouth and exclaiming: 'Holly, I am live on air! How do I feel?'
Despite the awkwardness, Thompson handled the question with grace, admitting he still listens to the song on the Tube. 'First of all, and I mean this when I say it, it's a brilliant song. I still listen to it on the tube,' he confessed. He added that he felt happy for everyone involved, noting he had met Tomlinson at Soccer Aid last summer and found him to be 'a really nice dude'.
Thompson, who has since moved on with DJ and model Talitha Balinska, said he was glad both parties had found happiness. 'I think everyone has found their person and I think that's really, really nice,' he said. The reality star confirmed his romance with Balinska on his podcast Staying Relevant last year, revealing he asked her to be his girlfriend over a low-key dinner.
