Ruben Dias, the Manchester City footballer, has been accused of 'toe dipping' on social media during his relationship with Maya Jama. The Love Island host and the Portuguese defender split a few weeks ago after dating for around 18 months.
According to screenshots obtained by The Sun, Dias allegedly followed and unfollowed model Catarina Duraes in March, and did the same to a woman named Claire from Perth last November. The actions were reportedly done late at night, with the footballer unfollowing them the next morning if they did not follow back.
While there is no suggestion of cheating or direct messaging, an insider claimed the behaviour 'will raise eyebrows'. 'It might just seem like a simple follow online but it’s the intention behind it,' the source said. 'It suggests he’s sat browsing Instagram and what happens if they do follow back or DM?'
Maya Jama and Ruben Dias first met at the MTV European Music Awards in Manchester in late 2024. They wiped all evidence of their relationship from social media earlier this month, prompting split rumours. A source confirmed they had reached a 'crossroads' due to their demanding careers, with Maya set to film Love Island and Ruben focusing on the World Cup.
