Ray J Denies Suicidal Allegations Amid Kardashian Legal Battle

Ray J, the 45-year-old singer and television personality, has publicly denied claims made by his former flame Shila Hasanoff that he is "very suicidal" due to an ongoing defamation lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner. Hasanoff made the allegations on Wednesday, but Ray J responded on Thursday, stating he is "perfectly stable" and not in crisis.

Defamation Lawsuit and Countersuit Details

On October 1, Kardashian and Jenner filed a 13-page defamation lawsuit—their first ever—against Ray J, whose legal name is William Ray Norwood Jr., in Los Angeles Superior Court. The lawsuit directly addresses Ray J's allegations, made during a livestream and in a TMZ documentary, that the Kardashians are involved in a criminal enterprise "worse than Diddy" and that he is "working with prosecutors on a RICO case."

The legal filing explicitly states: "No such federal investigation exists; no law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations."

In response, Ray J has countersued the mother-daughter duo for allegedly breaching a $6 million contract related to the 2007 "Superstar" sex tape with Kardashian. He claims the tape was brokered by Jenner and involved $400,000 contracts with Vivid Entertainment.

Hasanoff's Claims and Physical Altercation

Shila Hasanoff, a 30-year-old private chef and Persian influencer, detailed on Instagram that Ray J has been under immense pressure from the legal situation. "He's been under a lot of pressure lately especially around the Kim and Kris situation. And whether people want to agree with him or not, it affects him in ways that people would never understand," she said.

Hasanoff alleged that Ray J was staying at her place and had a safe containing documents that made him "very suicidal." She claimed he was so distressed over "his legacy" being attacked that he attempted to take his own life at a hotel last Saturday, prompting her to call the LAPD in a panic.

During the incident, Hasanoff admitted to slapping Ray J in an attempt to prevent him from jumping off a ledge. "That night, I was only trying to grab him from jumping off the ledge and I let my emotions get the best of me," she said. "And I slapped him. Not only did I slap him, I slapped the dogs*** out of him. And looking back, I regret it so much."

She emphasized that Ray J has never been physically abusive toward her, and neither cooperated with law enforcement, so she was not arrested for assault.

Ray J's Response and Current Status

Ray J firmly denied Hasanoff's suicidal claims in an interview with TMZ on Thursday morning. "I'm feeling good right now. I'm not suicidal at this moment. I don't need to call a hotline. I'm perfectly stable," he stated.

He described the altercation with Hasanoff, saying, "On the night of the incident, she was very aggressive with all the stuff going on. She put her hands on me and I literally got up out of there. [A] situation like that you get out of there to settle down the situation."

When asked if he was suicidal during the incident, Ray J responded, "Was I suicidal in that moment? I don't know what I was feeling. She slapped me out of control. I didn't know if it was March or April, my back tooth is loose. It was a massive blow. Hell yeah I called 911 because I left the hotel and she followed me."

Despite the conflict, Ray J indicated they are on good terms, calling Hasanoff's apology "sincere and weird at the same time."

Background and Personal Life Updates

Ray J and Hasanoff originally met last autumn when she was competing on the Zeus Network dating show "Love Cabin," which Ray J produces and hosts. They frequently bickered during Tronix Network livestreams.

In a separate legal matter, on January 30, Judge Patricia Hunter reinstated Ray J's custody rights for his two children—daughter Melody, 7, and son Epik, 6—from his four-year marriage to Princess Love, which ended in 2020. Ray J was previously arrested for allegedly making a criminal threat against his ex-wife by pulling a gun on her during Thanksgiving.

Ray J, who has publicly disclosed that he only has "months to live" due to severe heart failure, is next scheduled to host a "Back to the 2000s" party at the Waterside District in Norfolk, Virginia, on March 13.
