Footage of Vladimir Putin's legs twitching oddly as he bid farewell to Donald Trump after their summit in Alaska has sparked fresh speculation about the Russian leader's health. The clip shows Putin's knees shaking and his feet rocking back and forth on his heels and toes.
On Telegram, the Times of Ukraine channel asked: 'Attention — Putin's legs. What is wrong with them?' The Nevzorov channel suggested: 'Putin seems to have achieved his goal, but he is twitching suspiciously. His legs are “shaking”. Maybe his shoes are tight.'
Crimean Wind speculated Putin might be wearing 'a strange element resembling a light exoskeleton' under his trousers, while others pointed to his thick-soled shoes, suggesting he was trying to overcome a 'Napoleon complex' and bridge the eight-inch height difference with Trump.
The summit itself was underwhelming, with no major deal reached and a joint press conference lasting just 12 minutes. Trump later said Ukraine should agree to end the war, stating 'Russia is a very big power, and they’re not'. He also revealed he and Putin agreed that a peace settlement, not a ceasefire, was the best way forward.
After the meeting, Putin visited Fort Richardson Memorial Cemetery to lay flowers at the graves of Soviet pilots. He then returned to his 'Flying Kremlin' plane, escorted by a US F-22 fighter jet to the border, before landing in Chukotka for meetings with local officials.
