Zelensky Claims Leaked Docs Show Putin Plotting NATO Strike

Leaked intelligence documents suggest Vladimir Putin is planning an attack on NATO territory in the Baltics, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The alleged plot would involve a strike from ally Belarus, potentially targeting Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, which share borders with Belarus.

Zelensky stated: 'Russia is considering plans for operations to the south and north of Belarusian territory – either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine or against one of the NATO countries directly from the territory of Belarus.' The 40-mile wide Suwalki Gap, linking Poland and Lithuania and running between Russian and Belarusian territory, is seen as NATO's weakest link.

Both Lithuania and Latvia have fortified their borders with Belarus and Russia. Zelensky warned: 'We continue to document Russia's attempts to draw Belarus deeper into the war against Ukraine.' He added that Ukraine would defend itself if Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko supports Russian intentions.

The leaked documents reportedly list targets including two dozen political and military facilities, as well as Zelensky's headquarters and a state dacha in the Kyiv region. Meanwhile, Ukraine struck Russia overnight, damaging the Azot chemical plant in Nevinnomyssk and igniting a massive fire at a plastics warehouse in Naberezhnye Chelny.
