Piers Morgan storms off Good Morning Britain after co-host calls his Meghan Markle comments 'patheti

Piers Morgan walked off the set of Good Morning Britain on Tuesday after a heated exchange with co-presenter Alex Beresford over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey. Beresford criticised Morgan for his persistent negative comments about Meghan Markle, calling his behaviour 'pathetic' and 'diabolical'.

The row erupted during a discussion about the interview, in which Meghan revealed she had suicidal thoughts while pregnant and claimed a royal family member had asked about the colour of her unborn son's skin. Beresford noted the 'overwhelming' negative press the couple had faced and challenged Morgan's previous claim that Meghan had cut him off after she started dating Prince Harry.

Morgan, 55, responded by saying 'I'm done with this' and stormed off set, prompting co-host Susanna Reid to send the show to an early break. He later returned and the discussion resumed. The incident has drawn criticism from mental health charity Mind, which expressed concern over Morgan's remarks that he did not believe Meghan's disclosure about her suicidal thoughts.

ITV chief executive Carolyn McCall confirmed that senior executive Kevin Lygo had spoken to Morgan about his comments in recent days. She said ITV could not control what Morgan said on Twitter but was committed to supporting mental health.
