Pete Wicks Announces New Series of For Dogs' Sake and Playful Rivalry with Alison Hammond
Reality television star Pete Wicks has delighted fans by confirming that a fourth series of his heartwarming documentary series For Dogs' Sake is officially in the works. The 37-year-old former TOWIE personality, who has been volunteering at Dogs Trust rehoming centres since January 2025, shared the exciting news during a recent podcast appearance.
Filming Schedule and Series Details
Speaking to his best friend and podcast co-host Sam Thompson, Wicks disclosed that production for the new series is set to commence imminently. "I start filming for series four in two weeks time," he explained, putting an end to speculation among eager viewers. The show, which has earned Wicks several accolades including a TV Choice Award, focuses on the realities of rescue dogs and highlights the significant costs involved in caring for abandoned puppies.
Wicks has previously expressed his admiration for the late Paul O'Grady, hoping to follow in his footsteps as a beloved figure in the world of canine advocacy. In an interview with the Mirror, he stated, "Am I the new Paul O'Grady? It would be a privilege. He's an icon, a national treasure. What he did for dogs, the love that he showed, you don't find very often." He added that the comparisons stem from his genuine love and care for dogs, mirroring O'Grady's approach.
Television Rivalry with Alison Hammond
In a lighthearted twist, Wicks also joked about his rivalry with ITV star Alison Hammond, who presents For The Love Of Dogs for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. "Battersea are currently filming with Alison Hammond For The Love Of Dogs, my enemy in the TV world," he quipped, before acknowledging the importance of both charities. "But it just goes to show how amazing these charities are."
Alison Hammond took over the presenting role on For The Love Of Dogs following Paul O'Grady's passing in 2023. Last year, she addressed critics who suggested Pete Wicks would be a better fit for the show, telling The Guardian, "People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For the Love of Dogs. He might be, but I'm doing it. Deal with it! I know my worth." She credited her mother as her guiding light, adding that she would have been proud of her work.
Legacy and Future Aspirations
Pete Wicks reflected on meeting Paul O'Grady at an awards ceremony, describing him as "a really lovely man" and expressing hope that he, too, will be remembered for his dedication to dogs. "Whenever you think of him, you think of dogs. That's what I hope for," he said. With series four on the horizon and a playful rivalry adding to the buzz, fans can look forward to more heartfelt content from both Wicks and Hammond as they continue to champion canine welfare on television.
