Penny Lancaster, best known for her appearances on Loose Women, has made her debut on BBC One's Celebrity Masterchef this week. The model and photographer progressed to the semi-final after a positive reception from the judges, despite a hiccup when asked to prepare crispy calamari and homemade tartar sauce.
Lancaster, who has been married to Rod Stewart since June 2007, joked about her husband on the show, saying: 'I like to take on a challenge - that's why I married my husband.' The couple began dating in 1999 and have two children, Alastair and Aiden.
In a 2013 interview with Australian magazine Life, Stewart revealed that he and Lancaster once split for two weeks. The separation inspired a Tom Waits cover on his album Time. Stewart said: 'I cover Tom Waits' Picture In A Frame. Penny and I broke up for two weeks and the song is about that time. I asked her for a photo of herself in a frame so that I could see her when I went to bed and when I woke up.'
Stewart, who has had two previous marriages, also spoke about his relationships, stating: 'I have taken a lot of risks when it comes to relationships but I have never gambled or smoked - women don't like that. You have to take the good with the bad, and women prefer when you're truthful.'
The Celebrity Masterchef semi-final will be broadcast at 9pm tonight, with the show running for five weeks. Only two contestants each week make it through to the semi-finals, with the winner of each heat competing in the final.
