Netflix Unchosen Fans: Watch Stone Cold Fox Thriller

Netflix subscribers who have devoured the new cult drama Unchosen should mark their calendars for a thrilling film from last year with a similar premise coming to streaming. The six-part series starring Molly Windsor, Asa Butterfield, and Christopher Eccleston and created by Julie Gearey launched on the service last week to huge acclaim.

It follows a young wife and mother who was raised in a devoutly religious sect who begins a journey of emancipation when a troubled stranger named Sam (played by Fra Fee) enters their midst. Unchosen has quickly become a hit among subscribers and is currently the number one show on Netflix's top 10 TV chart.

For those who have already been gripped and want to discover more about cults and communes, an American film with a similar narrative set in the 1980s was released in cinemas last year and will be heading to Paramount+ later this week.

Stone Cold Fox: A Gripping Cult Thriller

Stone Cold Fox stars Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Fox, a young woman who falls in with the leader of an abusive, drug-dealing commune. When she breaks out in search of her family, ringleader Goldie (Krysten Ritter) kidnaps her sister and sends crooked cop Sergeant Billy Breaker (Kiefer Sutherland) after her to track her down.

An independent film directed by Sophie Tabet making her feature directorial debut, Stone Cold Fox received positive reviews from fans when it was released in US cinemas last November. It will finally be widely available to watch on Paramount+ from this Friday (1st May).

Fan Reactions and Critical Acclaim

One 10/10 review from an IMDb user urged fans "don't miss out" and wrote: "Loved it from start to finish. So many unexpected twists and turns." Another fan gushed: "SUCH a fun watch!!! Stone Cold Fox is a stylish, entertaining crime thriller that fully embraces its era while delivering a sharp, engaging story."

"The film stands out for its confident tone and cool, effortless atmosphere, blending suspense, action, and character-driven drama in a way that keeps viewers hooked from start to finish. Its pacing is tight, and the plot unfolds with just enough twists to stay unpredictable without losing focus." Someone else called it a "terrific debut feature" for Tabet, and claims it "delivers on every front" with "a strong cast, striking cinematography that vividly captures the 1980s, and a gripping, fast-paced story capped by an unexpected twist."

A final fan teased a "shocking ending", penning: "Not giving anything away but omg my jaw dropped at the end. Amazing twist." Admitting they wouldn't have given the film a chance if it wasn't for Shipka in the lead role, they also gave it a 10/10 and was thrilled not to have missed out. "Destressing after a long day to watch this masterpiece of a movie was just what I needed," they went on. "The acting was amazing, the plot, the story, everything was solid A+."

Stone Cold Fox will be released on Friday, 1st May on Paramount+.
