Jenny Evans, who starred in the 1997 cult film Twin Town, has detailed in a new memoir how she was sexually assaulted by a high-profile figure and his friend shortly after the film's release. The attack, which occurred when she was 19, led her to abandon her acting career and embark on a journey that exposed tabloid spying, phone hacking, and police misconduct.
In her book, Don't Let It Break You, Honey, Evans recounts the assault by two men she calls The Famous Man and The Wolf. After a reunion with the Twin Town cast in London, she ended up at the home of a well-known man, where she was attacked. She describes the assault as brutal, involving penetration and choking, and says she feared for her life.
Following the attack, Evans did not report it to the police. Instead, she withdrew from acting, moved to London, and struggled with depression. Her quest for justice later led her to a career in journalism, where she played a role in uncovering the phone-hacking scandal that ultimately closed the News of the World.
Evans, now 47 and living in Bristol, says the experience changed her profoundly. She has since become an advocate for victims of sexual assault and has written her memoir to share her story of survival and the fight for accountability.
