Nadiya Bychkova in Talks for Strictly Choreography Role After Exit

Nadiya Bychkova is reportedly in discussions to remain part of Strictly Come Dancing in a new off-screen role, after being dropped from the professional dancer line-up. The BBC show has prompted surprise among viewers after several established names, including Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Michelle Tsiakkas, Luba Mushtuk and Gorka Márquez, were reportedly dropped for the upcoming series.

Bychkova, 36, appeared to address her future on Wednesday, suggesting her role on the programme is set to change after nearly a decade. “After 9 wonderful years, this part of my journey with Strictly Come Dancing is evolving,” she said in a statement. She thanked fans and colleagues, adding: “This isn’t the end… I look forward to being part of the Strictly world for many years to come in ways I am beginning to explore.”

According to reports, producers are keen to keep her within the Strictly fold and have explored the possibility of a choreography role. A source told The Sun: “Nadiya is so recognisable with viewers and bosses felt it would be a real loss to lose her from the Strictly family altogether. After a few conversations, they offered her a choreography role which she is very open to.”

Last year, Bychkova was paired with former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw, with the duo exiting the competition in week three. Over her nine years on the show, she has also partnered with Davood Ghadami, Lee Ryan, David James, Matt Goss, Dan Walker and Tom Dean. Her strongest run came in 2021, when she reached the quarter-finals alongside Walker.

A Strictly spokesperson said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Nadiya Bychkova for her incredible contribution to Strictly Come Dancing. Since joining the show nine years ago, Nadiya has brought elegance, artistry, and unwavering dedication to the ballroom, and she will always remain a cherished member of the Strictly family.”
