Michael Owen was accompanied by his children Gemma and James as he attended the second day of The Boodles Festival at Chester Races on Thursday. The former professional footballer, aged 46, was joined by his 23-year-old daughter and 20-year-old lookalike son for Ladies Day, with the family leading the celebrity arrivals at the event.
Michael was photographed walking into the course alongside his Love Island star daughter, who appeared elegant in a long black dress paired with a cropped tweed jacket. Gemma, a professional international dressage rider, enjoyed the festivities rather than competing during this event. She wore her black hair loose and completed the look with oversized Dior sunglasses and studded earrings. She walked beside James, who looked smart in a cream jacket with a pale blue shirt and navy tie. Michael wore a navy suit with a pale blue shirt and grey tie.
Gemma rose to fame on Love Island in 2022 through her romance with Luca Bish, but she is now dating horse rider Red Morgan. The star recently shared that she would be swapping dressage for the home straight, as she will ride in the Markel Magnolia Cup at Goodwood on July 30. She is currently training for the race and working at Manor House Stables, which her father established in 2007. Speaking about the race last month, Gemma said: 'I'm really looking forward to taking part in the Markel Magnolia Cup this year. Believe it or not, I had never sat on a racehorse until a couple of months ago and the training so far has been humbling to say the least. Spending more time at Manor House Stables, seeing how a racing yard runs like clockwork and getting out onto the gallops, has been an incredible experience. It is an even bigger challenge than I initially expected but I'm excited to take part in such a prestigious fundraising event which raises so much money for charities supporting women and children.'
The Markel Magnolia Cup has raised over £3.5 million for charities supporting women and children since its inception in 2011, and this year it will raise funds for the Education Above All Foundation. Gemma unveiled her romance with Red last year, sharing a photo of the pair joined by her father and mother Louise Bonsall.
The Owens were joined at the event by other famous faces, including Kerry Katona as well as MAFS UK stars Amy Christophers and Marilynse Elena. There were also former sporting stars John Barnes, Steve Bruce, and Nicky Butt. Kerry, 45, opted for a fitted white dress that fanned out into an A-line skirt, teamed with a pretty matching fascinator and a pair of strappy black heels. Pregnant reality star Amy, 36, certainly stood out from the crowd in her hat which incorporated a huge blue bird. Amy's white dress showcased her blossoming baby bump, which she teamed with blue heels and a floral clutch bag. Marilynse Elena looked lovely in a green and pink print dress. Former professional footballer John Barnes was at the event, and Steve Bruce was also in attendance. Former pro footballer Nicky Butt, who now co-owns Salford FC, looked smart in a grey suit.
