Television presenter Maya Jama has captivated her followers this week by posting a stunning Instagram photograph where she models a pale green bikini, showcasing her toned physique and natural curly hair. The 31-year-old Love Island host, who is in a relationship with Manchester City footballer Ruben Dias, attributes her impressive figure to a dedicated Pilates-focused exercise regimen and a specialised £400 body sculpting treatment.
Balancing Fitness with Flexibility
Despite her commitment to fitness, Maya Jama maintains a surprisingly relaxed approach to her diet, emphasising that she eats what she wants and when she wants. This balanced lifestyle has earned her admiration from fans, with many describing her as 'the most beautiful woman in the UK'. However, Maya has openly expressed frustration with being 'naturally skinny', sharing her aspiration for a thicker, more curvaceous appearance.
Recent Health Challenges and Weight Goals
Last month, Maya revealed that she lost a significant amount of weight after suffering from severe food poisoning while travelling. In response, she has embarked on a mission to gain weight, incorporating weight training and late-night eating into her routine. She explained her preference for a 'curvier looking body' and detailed her plans to achieve it through targeted exercises and dietary adjustments.
Maya addressed the public's tendency to attribute slim figures to weight-loss drugs like Ozempic, stating, 'I don't love that since Ozempic, anyone that's slim, they're like Ozempic, Ozempic, Ozempic. Some of us are naturally marga [skinny] and we don't wanna be. We like being thicker, but it's hard so just bear that in mind.'
Maya Jama's Diet Philosophy
Maya's dietary habits are far from strict, as she previously joked that her eating routine consists of 'all carbs and vibes'. During a 70-hour travel day, she indulged in a McDonald's meal, a full English breakfast, ravioli, pasta, and a glass of wine. She openly admits to eating 'terribly' and credits her slim build to genetics and a fast metabolism, even with her love for fast food.
Her favourite hangover meal is a posh chicken shish kebab, which she fondly associates with her early days in Bristol. 'It's everything you need – lovely bit of bread, the chicken, garlic sauce, lettuce, I get it all in there. Except I'm not a fan of the gherkins. It just does the job. It ticks every box,' she shared.
Maya Jama's Workout Regime
Despite her flexible diet, Maya is disciplined with her fitness routine, ensuring she fits in gruelling workouts even while travelling for work. She prioritises early morning exercise sessions to get into the right mindset before filming. Her workout philosophy, influenced by personal trainer Alice Liveing, emphasises quality over quantity.
In January, Maya identified three key exercises that have significantly improved her strength and fitness: squats, push-ups, and kickbacks with ankle weights. She explained, 'Squats really work the glutes, which is a must. Push-ups do wonders for my core. I love kickbacks because they're great for firming and toning.'
Embracing Pilates and Home Workouts
Maya is a regular attendee of reformer Pilates classes at Nobu London, describing it as a lighter workout that engages every muscle without leaving her drenched in sweat. 'It's the only form of exercise that I don't have to talk myself into doing, and that's a big thing for me!' she said.
She also incorporates home workouts into her routine, such as taking the stairs instead of the lift and dancing around her house. Beyond physical benefits, Maya highlights the positive impact of exercise on her mental health, noting, 'I just think [working out] helps your mental health so much anyway – there's a difference in how I feel if I go out and do some exercise versus just staying in bed all day.'
The £399 Sculpting Treatment
To complement her fitness efforts, Maya uses body toning treatments like Shane Cooper's Body Defining Treatment on her thighs and stomach. This treatment employs electromagnetic waves to induce up to 36,000 supra-maximal forced muscle contractions per session, targeting both muscle and fat. While Shane Cooper keeps his prices private, similar clinics charge around £399 for the service.
Maya has been a client of Shane Cooper for eight years, regularly undergoing body sculpting treatments and facials. In 2023, he shared a video of Maya enjoying the treatment, captioning it, 'Maya having her VIP head to toe treatment. This is the all in one treatment getting her all ready for Love Island.'
