Jess Wright has apologised after facing backlash over comments made on her podcast about women wearing thong bikinis. The former TOWIE star, 40, her mother Carol, 65, and sister Natalya, 25, sparked controversy during an episode of Wright At Home, where they described the swimwear as 'unsexy' and urged women to wear 'bigger coverage' bottoms.
Listeners accused Jess of hypocrisy, as she has previously been pictured wearing thong bikinis on social media. In the now-deleted clip, Jess said her husband Will 'hates' the look, while Carol claimed her husband Mark Sr finds them 'unsexy'. The remarks drew thousands of responses on TikTok, with many branding the comments 'misogynistic' and 'degrading'.
On Tuesday, Jess took to Instagram to issue an apology, which was also shared on Carol and Natalya's accounts. 'In response to comments we made on our podcast. We've listened, we hear you and we want to say sorry… Our judgement was wrong and we take full accountability and will do better moving forward. Love Jess, Natalya and Carol,' she wrote.
The controversy highlights ongoing debates about body shaming and women policing other women's choices. Jess, older sister of TV star Mark Wright, married Will in Mallorca in September 2021 and they have a son, Presley, born in May 2022.
