Love Island Reportedly Launching New Vodcast Spin-Off 'The Debrief'
Love Island to Launch New Vodcast Spin-Off 'The Debrief'

Love Island is reportedly set to launch a new spin-off show following the scrapping of its companion podcast, The Morning After. The new format, tentatively titled The Debrief, will be a video podcast, or 'vodcast', airing every weeknight after the main show on ITV2 and also available on podcast platforms.

End of an Era for The Morning After

The Morning After podcast originally debuted in 2018 and was most recently hosted by former islanders Amy Hart and Indiyah Polack. Last month, the duo announced they would no longer present the podcast or appear on the spin-off show Aftersun. In a joint Instagram post, they said: 'After three incredible years of gossip, girly chats and love, we wanted to share that we're stepping away from Love Island: The Morning After & Aftersun.' They added that the podcast would be taken over by new presenters when the new series starts this summer.

New Format: The Debrief

According to reports, The Morning After is being replaced by The Debrief, which will be produced in vodcast format. An X user revealed: '#LoveIsland is getting a brand new spin-off show (sort of). The Morning After podcast is gone, and the show will now have 'The Debrief' which will be in the VODCAST format — airing EVERY weeknight after the main show on ITV2, and also available as a podcast on the usual platforms.' The user also noted that Aftersun, hosted by Maya Jama, will continue to air on Sunday nights.

Potential New Hosts

There are whispers that a trio of popular islanders from last year's series—Toni Laites, Shakira Khan, and Yasmin Pettet, known as 'The Big Three'—are being lined up to host the new podcast. A source told The Sun: 'Their natural chemistry shone through in screen tests and there being three of them means there's flexibility to accommodate their work with brands, trips and so on. It was a no brainer and they smashed the auditions.' The source added that they have been offered the job and contracts are expected to be signed this week.

Farewell to Amy and Indiyah

Amy and Indiyah's departure was met with an outpouring of support from fans and friends. Comments on their Instagram post included: 'A stunning chapter. So so proud of you both. The best memories! Here's to new beginnings.' and 'Won't be the same without you both your hard work, commitment and love you both put into the podcast really came through each episode!'

History of The Morning After

The Morning After was originally presented by series three winner Kem Cetinay and radio DJ Arielle Free. Indiyah and Sam Thompson took over in 2023, and after Sam's departure, Amy joined alongside Chris Taylor, who left after one series. ITV has been contacted for comment on the new spin-off.
