The 2025 winter series of Love Island has sparked controversy as fans claim the new cast members resemble 'Temu clones' of previous contestants. The ITV2 show, set to air from South Africa, unveiled its 12 new singletons, but social media users were quick to point out perceived similarities to past islanders.
One Twitter user wrote: 'Once again, they’ve cast a bunch of btec versions of previous islanders.' Another questioned: 'Mate. Is there a factory somewhere where they clone new contestants or… #LoveIsland.' A third added: 'Unless you’re the sibling, neighbour or postman of some form of celeb, a lookalike of a previous contestant… you don’t stand a chance.'
The line-up includes twins Eve and Jess Gale, 20, Sophie Piper (sister of Rochelle Humes), 21, and Paige Turley (ex-girlfriend of Lewis Capaldi), 22. Other contestants are Ollie Williams, 23, heir to a Cornish estate; police officer Mike Boateng, 24; former naked butler Connor Durman, 25; beauty consultant Siannise Fudge, 25; democratic services officer Shaughna Phillips, 25; customer service advisor Leanne Amaning, 22; scaffolder Callum Jones, 23; and builder Nas Majeed, 23.
Fans expressed disappointment, with many noting the perceived lack of originality in casting. The show's producers have yet to respond to the criticism.
