A contestant on the latest series of Netflix's Love Is Blind had to pause filming after being rushed to hospital following a medical emergency. Elissa Finley, a 38-year-old ICU nurse, accidentally applied nail glue to her eye instead of eye drops, prompting an urgent hospital visit.
The incident occurred during the first episode of season 10, which premiered on February 11. Elissa was seen running into the women's communal space in tears, shouting: 'Oh my God what do I do?' A producer intervened to calm her, saying: 'I know, you're scared right now... We're going to have to send you out.'
In the second episode, Elissa returned to the women's quarters and explained what had happened. She said: 'I go in and there's a little bottle there, I wanted to put eye drops in my eye... it was nail glue.' She added: 'I was scared. I thought I was going to lose sight.'
Elissa described the ordeal as 'awful' and said she 'can't believe' it happened. After having her eye rinsed at the hospital, she quickly returned to the pods to continue her search for romance, though her eye remained sore. A fellow contestant joked: 'Love is half blind.'
The first six episodes of Love Is Blind season 10 are now streaming on Netflix, with the next batch due on February 18.
