‘Appalling’ Cats movie made me get therapy dog, says Andrew Lloyd Webber

Andrew Lloyd Webber has revealed that the critical and commercial failure of the 2019 film adaptation of his musical Cats prompted him to get a therapy dog. The composer, who served as an executive producer on the movie, told CBS Sunday Morning that he purchased a Havanese puppy after the film's release.

Lloyd Webber described the film as 'appalling' and said he now uses the dog as an emotional support animal when flying. He joked that when airlines ask for a reason for bringing the dog on board, he simply writes 'Cats movie', and they waive the requirement for a doctor's certificate.

The film, which starred James Corden, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, and Idris Elba, was widely panned by critics. The Independent's two-star review called it 'improbable and entirely indescribable' and a 'collective hallucination'.
