Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham Attacked by Alleged Stalker in Santa Monica

Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, 76, was attacked by a woman known to him while attending an appointment in Santa Monica, California, on Wednesday. According to NBC4 LA, he was doused with an unknown substance as he entered the building, and the woman fled the scene immediately.

Authorities described the woman as a stalking suspect, and no arrests have been made. Buckingham was reportedly not injured in the attack. The incident comes just over a year after he was granted a restraining order against an alleged stalker named Michelle, though it is unclear if the two cases are connected.

Court documents reveal that Michelle had allegedly been harassing Buckingham and his family since 2021, making threats on their lives. In court, Buckingham stated that Michelle left “long drawn-out messages” claiming to be his child and threatening to kill him and his family. He denied being her father and said she was unknown to him before the harassment began.

In one incident, police handcuffed Buckingham at his home after a 911 call, later traced to Michelle’s phone, falsely reporting gunshots and that his son William intended to harm himself. Buckingham was released after police determined the call was a hoax. He was subsequently granted a five-year restraining order requiring Michelle to stay 100 yards away from him and his family.

Buckingham has faced a difficult period in recent years, including his departure from Fleetwood Mac in 2018 due to tensions with Stevie Nicks, and a heart attack in 2019 that required triple bypass surgery, which damaged his vocal cords. He shared with the Los Angeles Times in 2021 that the experiences have been humbling, making him less aggressive and more reflective.
