Kurt Russell Recalls Hosting Princess Diana and Sons at His Private Home
Kurt Russell Hosted Princess Diana and Sons at His Home

Hollywood actor Kurt Russell has shared a remarkable personal story about providing a private holiday retreat for Diana, Princess of Wales, and her two young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Speaking candidly on The Jonathan Ross Show, Russell disclosed that he extended the invitation to Diana after sensing her struggles with public attention.

A Royal Premiere Encounter

The initial meeting occurred at the royal premiere of the film Backdraft in August 1991, where Russell found himself seated between Diana and Charles, then the Prince of Wales. Recognising the intense media scrutiny she faced, the actor saw an opportunity to offer assistance.

A Generous Offer Made

Russell recounted telling Diana: "I was sitting in between her and Charles. I understand her difficulties with paparazzi and all that kind of thing. I said 'If you ever want to go somewhere that's pretty under control, we'll work it out – let me know'."

Diana accepted the invitation, bringing William and Harry to Russell's unspecified property for what became a week-long stay. Russell clarified that neither he nor his family were present during the visit, but Diana later sent appreciative cards acknowledging their hospitality.

Prince Harry's Fond Memories

The actor revealed that Prince Harry has consistently recalled the experience during their subsequent meetings over the years. "I've seen Harry a number of times since then and he always remembers and he's very sweet – he always remembers it as one of the really fun times they had," Russell told Ross.

A Remarkable Royal Connection

Russell, who owns a ranch in Colorado, reflected on the significance of hosting future royalty: "I think it's a great thing – the future king of England was sleeping in my son's room." The property provided a rare sanctuary where the young princes could enjoy relative privacy away from public scrutiny.

Personal Reflections and Career Updates

During the same interview, Russell discussed his enduring 43-year relationship with actress Goldie Hawn, describing her as "one of the great people on the planet." When questioned about marriage, he maintained a characteristically enigmatic stance: "You never know."

The 74-year-old actor, currently promoting his new Paramount+ drama The Madison, addressed retirement speculation: "You do run into these time periods where you think sometimes, but there is something about acting, it never gets old." He expressed particular enthusiasm for his latest role, noting it marks the first time he's portrayed someone closely resembling himself.
