The upcoming revival of 'King of the Hill' on Hulu will pay tribute to late cast members Johnny Hardwick and Jonathan Joss through memoriam cards shown during episodes. The tributes were announced on Friday at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel by executive producers.
Hardwick, who voiced conspiracy theorist Dale Gribble, recorded the first six episodes of the revived Season 14 before his death in 2023. Actor Toby Huss has taken over the role. Joss, who portrayed John Redcorn, also appears in the new season and died shortly after attending the ATX Television Festival in Austin, where he had spoken about Hardwick.
The producers also addressed how the characters Luanne and Lucky, voiced by the late Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty respectively, will be referenced. Additionally, they noted the passing of musician Chuck Mangione, another voice actor from the series.
During the panel, stars including Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, and Lauren Tom discussed the characters' new directions, with Bobby now an adult chef in Dallas. New cast members include Keith David, Anthony 'Citric' Campos, and Ronny Chieng replacing the late Toby Huss as Kahn.
The revival premieres on 4 August on Hulu, with a logline describing Hank and Peggy Hill returning to Arlen, Texas, after years in Saudi Arabia, reconnecting with old friends while Bobby pursues his culinary career.
