Kim Kardashian raised eyebrows at the Met Gala after a glimpse of her iPhone revealed that her lock screen features just one of her four children. The reality star and trainee lawyer attended the fashion event on Monday night alongside her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
Lock Screen Focus on Chicago
While her children—North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, six—remained at home in Calabasas, Kim ensured at least one child accompanied her symbolically. As she exited a van, her iPhone lock screen displayed a picture of her daughter Chicago, dressed in what appeared to be a school uniform and smiling at the camera. In the past, Kim has shown lock screen images of North as a baby and a romantic photo with ex-husband Kanye West.
Met Gala Ensemble
Kim arrived in a metallic bodysuit created by British artist Allen Jones and Whitaker Malen, featuring a custom breastplate. She told Vogue, 'I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I’ve always been a big admirer of his work.' She completed the look with closed-toe heels and opted for minimal jewellery, styling her platinum blonde hair into messy waves. Before the event, she shared a snap of herself eating an ice cream cone with the caption 'Met prep.'
13th Appearance
This year marked Kim’s 13th Met Gala appearance, co-chaired by Venus Williams, Beyoncé, and Dame Anna Wintour. She first attended in 2013 while pregnant, wearing a floral Givenchy dress. In 2022, she wore Marilyn Monroe’s legendary Bob Mackie Dress, losing 16 pounds in three weeks to fit into it. She told Vogue, 'It was such a challenge. I was determined to fit. I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein.' She also spent 14 hours bleaching her hair for the platinum look.
