Stacey Solomon has revealed she sometimes sleeps downstairs when her partner Joe Swash puts their baby to bed, claiming his parenting methods are 'not efficient'. The Loose Women panellist, 30, made the comments during a discussion on Friday's show about whether fathers are given a 'bit part' in parenting.
Solomon, who shares son Rex with former EastEnders star Joe Swash, 37, said she prefers to put the baby to bed in a certain way but Joe does it differently. 'I will tell him how to do something in a certain way. And Joe does it his way, which is fine, but it is not efficient,' she explained.
Fellow panellist Nadia Sawalha defended Joe, asking: 'Do you think they feel nervous because you're standing over them?' Kaye Adams added: 'What if Joe said "I've been thinking about it and I think we should do it a different way"?' Solomon laughed and said she would 'build a case' with a chart of pros and cons to argue her method was better.
Solomon insisted Joe is 'an absolutely fantastic father' but admitted: 'There are sometimes I think we're going to agree to disagree so I'm going to sleep downstairs and get a full night's sleep.' The revelation follows Joe's admission on Solomon's podcast that he 'resented' her in the first weeks after Rex's birth, feeling he 'couldn't do anything right'. He said he 'suffered in silence' and considered a 'little separation', but the baby made their situation acceptable.
