Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she did not have to audition for her role in the upcoming Netflix rom-com Office Romance, which was co-written by Brett Goldstein and Ted Lasso co-creator Joe Kelly. The 56-year-old singer and actress told SiriusXM's BPM that the script was written specifically for her, adding that the film features 'hard jokes' and is 'a little bit edgier than a normal JLo rom-com.'
The film, directed by Ol Parker, follows a lawyer played by Goldstein who falls for Lopez’s character, a CEO with a strict anti-fraternisation policy. Lopez praised the chemistry between the pair, calling Goldstein her 'best onscreen kisser' during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. Goldstein, 45, had previously gushed about Lopez’s performance in Hustlers on his podcast.
Reports from The Sun suggest the castmates have grown close since filming wrapped, with sources describing them as 'very touchy-feely' and always laughing. However, neither has publicly confirmed a romance. Lopez has been married four times, while Goldstein has never gone public with a relationship.
Office Romance premieres on Netflix on June 5 and also stars Betty Gilpin, Edward James Olmos, Bradley Whitford, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, and Jackie Sandler. The film comes after a string of box office disappointments for Lopez, including Unstoppable and The Kiss of the Spider Woman.
