Red, black and white dominated the European premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 in London's Leicester Square, as stars including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt embraced method dressing inspired by the film's fashion world. The sequel to the 2006 hit reunites director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, returning to the cutthroat universe of Runway magazine and its formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly.
Meryl Streep, who plays Priestly, wore a statement red satin Prada coat over a silk blouse and tailored black trousers, finished with scarlet heels and her signature dark sunglasses. She carried a diamond-encrusted clutch emblazoned with 'RUNWAY', a nod to the infamous 'book' from the original film. Streep's look was the latest in a series of meticulously curated outfits styled by long-time collaborator Micaela Erlanger, following a vermilion Givenchy cape coat at the New York premiere.
Anne Hathaway, reprising her role as journalist Andy Sachs, wore a corseted strapless Versace gown with sheer panel cutouts and a velvet skirt. Emily Blunt, returning as Emily Charlton, opted for a custom Balenciaga red strapless top and cigarette trousers with matching heels. New cast member Simone Ashley, playing Priestly's assistant, brought a splash of fuchsia in a Mugler gown with a wide belt.
Among the attendees were footballer Alex Scott and singer Jess Glynne, who coordinated with the evening's red, white and black theme. Scott wore a sleeveless high-neck red gown with a pleated skirt and a bold gold necklace, while Glynne contrasted in a sharply tailored black mermaid dress over a crisp white shirt and slim black tie. The film is set for release on May 1.
