Japan Demands Quick Release of National Held in Iran

Japan's government has confirmed that a Japanese national has been detained in Tehran since January and is demanding their swift release. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Masanao Ozaki stated on Wednesday that the citizen was taken into custody on January 20, but declined to provide further details due to privacy concerns.

Ozaki said the government is in contact with the detainee and their family members, offering necessary support. The confirmation came in response to foreign media reports about the case.

The Japanese government has called on Iranian authorities to release the individual promptly, though no further information about the reasons for the detention has been disclosed.
