Following the death of actor James Van Der Beek at age 48, over $1 million has been donated to a GoFundMe page for his family. The page, set up by family friend and former WWE star Stacy Keibler, aims to provide financial stability for his wife Kimberly and their six children after medical costs left them with little.
Family friend Codie Sanchez, CEO of Contrarian Thinking, revealed on X: 'The worst part is his medical expenses left them with little to nothing.' She has pledged $5,000 a month to help cover living costs. The GoFundMe page states the family is 'working hard to stay in their home' in Texas, where they moved after leaving Hollywood.
James Van Der Beek, once worth an estimated $3 million, had a reported fortune of just $100,000 at his death on February 11. He had been in a hospice for his final weeks, battling colorectal cancer, and sold memorabilia to fund medical bills in the months before his death.
The initial GoFundMe target of $500,000 was quickly surpassed, with the total reaching $1.3 million by February 12. Notable donors include film producer Lyn Lear, who matched Sanchez's $5,000 monthly donation, and actress Zoe Saldana, who pledged $2,500 a month. Guardant Health donated $25,000, and Martin Blencowe contributed $10,000.
