An incident at Dubai International Airport on Saturday left four people injured, the Dubai media office has confirmed. The event occurred as Iran continued its second day of airstrikes against US targets in the region, though it remains unclear whether the airport incident is linked to the military action.
Dubai Airports stated that a concourse sustained minor damage, and emergency response teams were immediately deployed. Four staff members received medical treatment. The airport had already cleared most terminals as a precaution under contingency plans.
The incident coincides with widespread travel disruption across the Middle East. Iran and Iraq closed their airspace amid escalating hostilities, grounding hundreds of flights. Dubai International, a major global hub, suspended all operations on Saturday, leaving thousands of British passengers stranded. Qatar Airways also halted flights from Doha.
Explosions were reported in Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, and Qatar following Iran’s threat of retaliation for US and Israeli strikes launched early Saturday. US President Donald Trump described the operation as a “major combat operation” aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
