Ashley Roberts has revealed her shock at David Haye's 'sexist' remarks during the filming of I'm A Celebrity... All Stars in South Africa. The Pussycat Dolls star told Capital FM's Breakfast show that the former boxer's comments left her 'gasping' at times.
Despite knowing Haye from their 2012 stint, Roberts said she was stunned by his recent behaviour. 'I don't remember being quite as shocked as I was this time around about the stuff that was coming out of his mouth,' she told hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby.
The star added that her facial expressions often said more than her words, as Haye made controversial remarks about 'ugly women' and 'ugly duckling syndrome'. Presenter Chris Stark noted he was pleading with Haye to stop while watching the show.
Roberts acknowledged Haye's complex personality, saying: 'There’s moments with him though that were interesting where he was sort of quite nurturing and kind. So, you got a wide spectrum of characters within one human.'
Fans were furious with Haye's comments, and campmate Scarlett Moffatt was visibly flabbergasted. Haye had described his girlfriend Sian as having 'the personality of a proper ugly bird' and went on to explain his theory about attractive women lacking personality and ugly women compensating with banter.
Despite groans from others in camp, Haye doubled down on his views, prompting widespread criticism from viewers and fellow campmates alike.
