Comedian Jack Whitehall has revealed that his girlfriend, model Roxy Horner, collapsed backstage at the Brit Awards in 2021 and required resuscitation. Whitehall, 34, was hosting the ceremony at London's O2 Arena when the incident occurred.
Speaking on stage in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Whitehall explained that Horner, 31, had a diabetic hypo and fainted. Paramedics worked to revive her as her blood sugar levels spiked dangerously. The couple ended up in A&E instead of attending the afterparty.
Whitehall joked that the experience was a stark contrast to the previous year, when he mingled with Stormzy and Sir Elton John. He also quipped that seeing former One Direction star Harry Styles at the Brits gave him symptoms of a diabetic hypo.
Despite the ordeal, Whitehall praised Horner for raising awareness about Type 1 diabetes through social media tutorials. However, he noted that one of her videos, which ended with the phrase 'at the end of the day it is just a tiny prick, then you feel it go in,' was widely shared in his group chats, including the family WhatsApp group.
