Fans of the Disney sitcom Hannah Montana have expressed disappointment after Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso were absent from the 20th anniversary special, which premiered on Disney+ on Tuesday. The pair played Miley Stewart's best friends Lilly Truscott and Oliver Oken, respectively, and their absence was noted by viewers on social media.
One fan wrote on X: “Feels so incomplete without Lily & Oliver.” Another commented: “No Emily. No Oliver. No thank you.” A third added: “It’s pretty sad that Emily and Mitchell didn’t go to this canonical event, being the protagonist trio.”
Osment, 34, explained her absence in an Instagram video on Monday, stating she was filming the CBS series Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, a sequel to Young Sheldon. She thanked fans for their support, saying: “Hannah Montana changed my life… I’m so grateful that you guys all still love the show.”
Musso also shared a tribute on Instagram, posting throwback photos and writing: “Hannah Montana wrapped around my heart and never really let go.” He did not specify why he missed the reunion, though his Disney career was affected by a 2013 DUI arrest. Osment commented on his post: “Love you so so much.”
