Former Gogglebox Star Mica Ven Shares Heartwarming Family Achievement

Former Gogglebox personality Mica Ven has received an outpouring of support from fans after posting a proud family update on social media. Mica, known affectionately as Big Meesh, and her partner Marcus Luther were beloved fixtures on the Channel 4 show for four years before their departure in 2022.

A Triumph Over Adversity in the Boxing Ring

In her latest Instagram post on Monday, February 9, Mica revealed that her teenage son, Yash, has secured the title of national boxing champion. This accomplishment comes after Yash faced a significant medical emergency, which was documented in a video montage shared by his mother. The footage showed Yash enduring the injury but demonstrating remarkable determination to continue his athletic pursuits.

Mica captioned the emotional video with a message of resilience, stating: "Bad Man @yashtheboxer_And if you got as far as that piece of paper he handed to me, it’s just the official paperwork from @englandboxingofficial letting me know he’s made the Squad again!!! So keep working on them deep breathing exercises cos he’s back out again in June."

Overwhelming Fan Support and Family Dynamics

The comments section was quickly flooded with messages of congratulations and encouragement from friends and followers. One supporter wrote: "Big up Mummy and Daddy for supporting him! Well done Yash." Another added: "Awww this is", while a third chimed in: "Awesome!!! Amazing what you can achieve with love, support and hard work!"

Mica and Marcus, who occasionally featured Mica's daughters, Sachelle and Shuggy, on Gogglebox, have built a blended family. Marcus has a son named Shiloh Defreitas, and together with Mica, they are parents to Yash. Since leaving the popular TV programme, the couple has continued to engage with their audience through regular Instagram updates, offering glimpses into their private lives.

Life After Gogglebox: New Ventures and Continued Influence

Since bidding farewell to Gogglebox, Marcus, a boxing trainer, and Mica have launched a new YouTube series titled The Labrish Show. This weekly online programme sees the couple addressing viewers' relationship dilemmas, a natural extension of Mica's off-screen role as a hairdresser with a counselling qualification.

In a 2025 interview with The Mirror, Mica explained the show's origins: "Offline, I help a lot of people with their relationship dilemmas because what a lot of people don't know is I come from a counselling background. For some of the less sensitive dilemmas, I'm like, 'Let's get a male perspective on it.' That's how the show's premise came about. From the Gogglebox sofa to the Labrish sofa. Additionally, the duo has expanded their television presence with appearances on other programmes, including Banged Up and Celebrity MasterChef, showcasing their versatility beyond the Gogglebox couch.

Gogglebox continues to air on Channel 4 every Friday at 9pm, maintaining its status as a staple of British television entertainment.
