The accident occurred just before noon when Mirman's northbound electric vehicle struck the Bedford Toll Plaza in New Hampshire, according to state police reports.
Heroic Rescue by Governor's Security Detail
Republican Governor Kelly Ayotte and her security detail happened upon the crash scene shortly after it occurred. A state trooper assigned to protect the governor, along with two bystanders, acted quickly to pull Mirman from the burning car through a window. State Police Colonel Mark Hall described their actions as "heroic," noting that they put themselves in danger without hesitation to aid someone in need.
Governor's Involvement and Response
Governor Ayotte, who exited her vehicle and retrieved a fire extinguisher during the incident, was not in any danger according to authorities. In a statement following the rescue, Ayotte expressed that she and her husband were praying for the driver's recovery and thanked the trooper and bystanders for their brave, lifesaving efforts.
Mirman's Condition and Statement
Mirman's agent, Jay Glassner, confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that the actor had been in a "very scary car accident" and was seriously injured. Glassner stated that Mirman wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders, and hospital staff who saved him, adding that he is grateful to be on the mend. The agent requested privacy for Mirman and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.

State police identified the driver as Yevgeny Mirman, 51, of Massachusetts. Born in Moscow and raised in Massachusetts, Mirman has voiced the musical middle child Gene Belcher in more than 300 episodes of "Bob's Burgers" and its movie, in addition to roles on shows like "Flight of the Conchords," "Delocated," and "Archer." The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
